On the Distribution of Dependent Tasks Over Non-dedicated Grids with High Bandwidth Links

چکیده
The distribution of workflow-like dependent tasks over a set of heterogeneous resources is an NP-Complete problem. Thus, many solutions are heuristic-based, leading to simulations for the validation and comparison of dependent task scheduling algorithms. However, simulations concerning the algorithms’ performance when executed in non-dedicated resources with a wide range of bandwidth capacities are scarce. On this paper we evaluate the performance evolution of the dynamic Path Clustering Heuristic against the static one when scheduling dependent tasks on resources connected by gigabit networks. The experimental results indicate that the dynamic PCH mantains a constant performance gain over the static PCH with the change from a megabit to a gigabit network.

Using a Fuzzy Rule-based Algorithm to Improve Routing in MPLS Networks
Today, the use of wireless and intelligent networks are widely used in many fields such as information technology and networking. There are several types of these networks that MPLS networks are one of these types. However, in MPLS networks there are issues and problems in the design and implementation discussion, for example security, throughput, losses, power consumption and so on. Basically,...
متن کاملImproving Bandwidth-power Efficiency of Homogeneous Wireless Networks Using On-meet Threshold Strategy (RESEARCH NOTE)
Over two decades, a problem of location dependent has been focused for improving the communication Bandwidth-Power Efficiency of homogeneous networks. The efficiencies of communication links are weakened by the Hidden Terminal Problem. Thus we propose a Fine – Tune Strategy for analyzing the On-Off communication region. We were observed that the proposed technique had been able to track and mo...
متن کاملMultidimensional Qos Oriented Task Scheduling in Grid Environments
High availability of resources is the key requirement in grids where computational and network resources are highly dynamic and unpredictable. QoS (Quality of Service) based resource management and scheduling is an important issue in such dynamic and heterogeneous grid environments. The computational resources in the grid vary from dedicated clusters to non-dedicated desktops which are connecte...
متن کاملImpacts of the Negative-exponential and the K-distribution modeled FSO turbulent links on the theoretical and simulated performance of the distributed diffusion networks
Merging the adaptive networks with the free space optical (FSO) communication technology is a very interesting field of research because by adding the benefits of this technology, the adaptive networks become more efficient, cheap and secure. This is due to the fact that FSO communication uses unregistered visible light bandwidth instead of the overused radio spectrum. However, in spite of all ...
متن کاملEffective Use of Dedicated Wide-Area Networks for High-Performance Distributed Computing
Recent advances in Grid technology have made it possible to build so-called computational Grids, or simply Grids, which couple unique or rare resources that are geographically separated and span multiple administrative domains. Such Grids are invariably composed of heterogeneous networks in which, at the least, a high-performance switch accommodates intracluster messages and a separate, sometim...
